New USA Electors Website Inspired by 1876 Disputed Presidential Election

Controversy with America's Electoral College Started a Long Time Ago

(PRWEB) October 28, 2004 -- Its no secret that the Electoral College voters control the outcome of Presidential Elections. Their identities are not known to most voters but the new USA Electors Web Site will educate and inform visitors by providing links to government websites that name, names, state by state. The website offers other interesting links to inform voters including daily election headlines and how the media is covering the election. Some stations and newspapers have Electoral Maps projecting the election outcome using creative and animated graphics. Note, the Electors dont vote until December and like in the past with some states have the option to can change their vote.

Producer/Writer Nikki Oldaker created the USA Electors website www.USAElectors.com to compliment a feature film she penned about the first controversial Presidential election where Candidate; Samuel J. Tilden lost by One Electoral College vote in 1876 to Rutherford B. Hayes. Oldaker wants to present the historical film to studios and have it ready for theatres by the next Presidential Election. Tilden bequeathed his estate to build the New York Public Library.

The Gore/Bush election in 2000 is not the first to go down in American history with Electoral votes being disputed," states Oldaker, The Tilden/Hayes dispute lasted nearly five months and Americans rioted in the streets while Congress twisted every rule in the books trying to figure out what to do with duplicate Electoral Certificates presented to them. States involved under re-construction after the Civil War were Florida, Louisiana and South Carolina. In addition, Oregon got into the dispute when one of their Republican Electors was disqualified for holding a federal position which is not allowed by Constitutional law.

He was replaced by a Democrat which gave Tilden the one vote he needed to win. All four states sent two sets of Electoral College Certificates which created the chaos on Capital Hill. However, a Special Commission was created by Congress to resolve the dispute. Recently, Supreme Court Justice Rehnquist published a book about the Special Commission titled, CENTENNIAL CRISIS: THE DISPUTED ELECTION OF 1876" where the Supreme Court Justices were One Third of the 15 members in that Special Commission created by Congress.

Nikki Oldaker has been working with the Emmy-Award winning Producer Danny Schechter, formerly of 20/20 and CNN, building his first web site and handling publicity for his documentary WMD" (Weapons of Mass Deception) www.wmdthefilm.com During July, Nikki volunteered for the third time backstage at the DNC convention assisting in managing the VIP room with all the whos who before they stepped onstage to deliver their speeches.

Currently Oldakers in pre-production for a documentary comparing the elections of 1876, 2000 and 2004. Note: For those interested about Samuel J. Tilden go to: www.SamuelTilden.com For interviews, contact Nikki Oldaker at (203) 488-4320 or Nikki1952@Comcast.net
