New Album Release From International Artist Thurston Entitled "Edward Thurstons' Soundtrack of Life". Debut album features the worldwide hit single “New Day” with “Love Comes Shining Through” and “Age of Aquarius” and “The Lost Children”. Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 15, 2004 -- Singer/Songwriter Thurston has released his album “Edward Thurstons’ Soundtrack of Life which is on the Oracle One Recording label.
The lead song from the album is the international hit “New Day” which addresses self freedom and discovery of individual purpose. The single is receiving widespread radio play in Europe and Japan. Thurston concedes that it was his goal to reach an international audience with the song “New Day”.
“I wanted to write a universal song that would speak to everyone and I was blessed to write “New Day”. I wanted the song to incorporate different world styles with a dance beat. The goal in writing New Day was to send a person on a journey of self-discovery according to a path that is already coded in them. To me, it’s cool to discover who you are without labels and restrictions determined by society.”
The album, categorized as “Visionary Groove” music, addresses topics of life from a spiritual perspective. From the R&B contemporary soul sound of finding strength in perilous times (“Love Comes Shining Through); to the dance/funk song about an astrological age of understanding and global connectivity of people of all nationalities (Age of Aquarius); to a love song about a low-income couple that cherish the love of each other (Wanna Be With You), the album is a spiritual reflection of Thurston’s’ own life.
Raised in a family of six in Miami’s Liberty City section, Thurston started writing music at the age of 6 and was introduced to percussion at the age of 7. He won a gifted school music competition by repeating a conga beat off of a recording. Throughout his parochial school years, he wrote compositions for band but quit to pursue other educational endeavors.
At the age of 17, he joined the military and traveled through Europe. While in the military, he reconnected with his desire to play music by participating in base talent show which led to performing in instrumental jazz groups. While traveling in the military, he was introduced to metaphysical and meditative thought process. This inner discovery allowed him to look at life from various spiritual angles.
“This album is also a message of alternative paths of discovery. I admire people like Sting, Seal and Tears for Fears because they can actually take philosophy and sing about it in a way that makes people think. I grew up in the South and most people spent their time trying to take on the identity of their oppressors or oppressed their own people. I didn’t fit in because I always looked at the world as one residence in which we are all citizens. The song “Age of Aquarius” is based on Martin Luther King, Jr’s vision of a world that is interconnected. A world which the boundaries of racism, misunderstanding and bigotry will slowly dissipate as time goes on”.
The most compelling song on the album is the mid-tempo soulful hip-hop groove of “The Lost Children” which addresses child abduction from a physical and spiritual perspective.
“I wrote the song with children in mind. It’s very traumatic when a child is taken from a parent through force, kidnapping or other means. From a spiritual angle, we all yearn to be comfortable and in a safe haven from the forces of the world that spiritually derail us from our dreams and purposes so the song has a natural and spiritual message. There is always hope of coming back to the safe haven if we stand and believe.”
Thurston’s’ goal through this album is to simply bring a message of faith, hope and courage to people around the world.
“I just want people to dance and be liberated from the labels and restrictions they put on themselves. You can have a holistic life regardless of what you’re going through. Your innovation and discovery is the key to your freedom.”
