Colorado Author Richard Beougher Signs with PublishAmerica A re-assuring read for war weary doves. A must read for war hungry hawks. (PRWEB) November 9, 2004 -- "WILL MUNDAY, A RELUCTANT WARRIOR" is not a redundant war story about glory. It's a matter-of-fact account of a soldier's daily routine to prepare for, then tackle, an "iffy" assignment.
When Will F. Munday, a dedicated college student, elects to forego another educational deferment and answer his nation's call to duty he finds himself in a jungle that has nothing in common with the tropical paradises he's seen in motion pictures. He has but one option; to honor his oath of allegiance to his nation for "the duration, plus". Seemingly trapped in an alien society for which he was ill prepared, destiny deals him a hand he hadn't anticipated and he finds himself assigned to a clandestine mission the goal of which is to destroy a communications compound behind Japanese lines. He finally comes face to face with his obstinate reluctance to become a soldier if he hopes to survive and a newfound buddy, his only real friend in the unit, does his best to get Will on track. A by-the-book, yet sensitive, sergeant offers Will a hand of amity even though Will and his sergeant got off to a rocky start. A professional reader who poured over one of the original drafts of this story commented, "It deserves a place on the library shelf between "All quiet on the Western Front" and "The Naked And The Dead".
