PhatWare Extends Winning Streak: PhatNotes Named Best Notes Software By Pocket PC Magazine For Fourth Time

PhatWare's CalliGrapher wins in handwriting recognition category for third straight year.

Mountain View, CA (PRWEB via MobilityNewswire) November 8, 2004 -- For the fourth consecutive year, PhatWare Corporation, a leading provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, has won "Best of Category" honors in Pocket PC Magazine's Best Software Awards 2004 competition. PhatWare's PhatNotes won in the "Utilities-Notes" category, while the company's CalliGrapher handwriting recognition software took top honors in the "Utilities-Handwriting" segment.

This is the fourth year for the Pocket PC Magazine Best Software Awards, meaning that PhatNotes has been recognized as "Best of Category" each year since the awards programs inception.

"Winning these awards for several consecutive years validates the quality of our products and our dedication to responding to consumers' evolving needs," said Stan Miasnikov, president of PhatWare Corporation. "It's a great honor to be recognized by some of the most knowledgeable people in the business."

"More than 400 products in 65 different categories were nominated in the Pocket PC portion of the awards this year," said Hal Goldstein, Exec Editor, Pocket PC magazine, "PhatWare's two category winners, CalliGrapher and PhatNotes, are examples of the exceptional software available to Pocket PC users."

CalliGrapher is one of the most popular handwriting recognition products on the market. The application analyzes pen strokes written in any application window, then converts those pen strokes into text and sends the recognized text to the target application. In addition to immediate recognition of words found in its integrated dictionary, CalliGrapher uses advanced fuzzy logic and neural net techniques to recognize arbitrary letters and numbers, whether cursive, print or mixed.

PhatNotes Professional Edition is a notes organizer for Microsoft Windows Mobile-enabled Pocket PCs, Desktop PCs and Palm OS powered mobile devices. PhatNotes allows users to create notes and organize them by type, subject, creation and modification date. In addition, it also provides powerful text search, document security and email capabilities.

Both PhatWare CalliGrapher and PhatNotes Professional Edition have been tested and certified with the Designed for Windows Mobile logo.

PhatNotes and CalliGrapher exemplify the kinds of award-winning productivity applications available for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs," said Julie Wymetalek, manager of the Mobility Partner Advisory Council at Microsoft Corp. The Mobility Partner Advisory Council provides leading companies like PhatWare with the tools and resources they need to bring innovative and successful mobility solutions to market."

CalliGrapher was one of three products considered in the "Utilities-Handwriting" segment of the Best Software 2003 awards, while PhatNotes was one of seven titles competing in the "Utilities-Notes" category. Another PhatWare product, PhatPad, was also named finalist in the "Notes" category. For a complete list of categories and titles, visit www.PocketPCmag.com/Awards
