Bobby Collins Joins Search for Comedians

Stand-up star, Bobby Collins, will be a judge in the search for The World's Greatest Unknown Comedian.

(PRWEB) November 17, 2004 -- Bobby Collins has joined FilmStew.com and The Worlds Greatest Unknown Producers, Inc.(WGUP) in their massive search for funniest of them all. "Finally there is a forum for 'Joe Blow Comedian' to be discovered. I'm very pleased to be selected as one of the Judges for The World's Greatest Unknown Comedian." Collins said. "People from all over the world can have their shot at comedy fame. It's a fabulous concept."

The World's Greatest Unknown Comedian is open to contestants worldwide per rules that can be found at the entertainment portal, FilmStew.com. FilmStew Chairman and WGUP partner, John Culton, explains, "I teamed up with two excellent entertainment executives, Gordon Meyer and Nadine Hamden who produce Hollywood's Master Storytellers, and founded WGUP as a vehicle to produce The World's Greatest Unknown Comedian. We feel extremely fortunate to get a great talent like Bobby Collins to help us with judging comedians from all over the world."

Bobby Collins is one of the most sought-after, stand-up performance comedians in the country today. His heartfelt humor engages audiences with a clever blend of characterization and hilarious personal observations that all his audiences can relate to.

From starring in his own Showtime Special and being Rosie O'Donnell's personally selected choice to succeed her as the host of VH1's "Stand-up Spotlight," to opening for some of musics biggest stars, including Cher, Dolly Parton, Julio Inglesis and Tony Bennett, among others, Collins has proven himself to be one of the most successful and enduring acts on the comedy circuit. Topping his first comedy CD "On The Inside" that showcased his wide-ranging observational material, his second "Out Of Bounds," earned a Grammy nomination. While live stage performances in New York, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City are forever expanding his list of faithful followers, he has also appeared in five feature films and numerous television shows.

Collins gift of gab landed him a job with Calvin Klein when a company executive saw Collins sell Klein's wife some jewelry at the Garment Center in Manhattan. One year later, at age 26 he was atop the corporate ranks as vice president for the fashion company.

While working for Calvin Klein, Collins made his comedy debut at Catch A Rising Star, Manhattan's premiere comedy club. While continuing to sell fashion for Klein during the day, he honed his comedic skills at night until the moment came when he felt it was time to fully realize his passion and work full time as a comedian, and it's been a riot ever since.

In addition to opening COMIX, the comedy club that his fellow comics are already saying will be one of New Yorks hottest comedy showcases; he is developing a network sitcom with The Worlds Greatest Unknown Producers, Inc. and continues to tour extensively. When hes not on the road, Collins gets pleasure from spreading laughter and being a dedicated family man residing in southern California with his wife and two young children. An avid basketball player, he hits the hard court whenever time allows.
