Kidney Cancer Association Executive Named Kellogg Scholar

CEO Bill Bro honored as Kellogg Executive Scholar by top-ranked U.S. business school

(PRWEB) November 21, 2004

Kidney Cancer Association president and chief executive officer Bill Bro was honored this week with a Certificate of Professional Achievement in Nonprofit Management from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

"This recognition means that our organization is among the select few nonprofits in the nation that have placed a high priority on the certification of key personnel through the Kellogg Executive Scholars Program," Bro said.

Kellogg Executive Scholars are awarded Certificates of Professional Achievement after successful completion of four open-enrollment executive programs at the Kellogg School, including one required program and three electives from any remaining programs in a chosen category (The Certificate of Professional Achievement in Nonprofit Management has separate criteria). As a Kellogg Executive Scholar, Mr. Bro has access to faculty research, writings, publications, and presentations by major business leaders and Kellogg faculty.

"The Kidney Cancer Association has benefited tremendously from this unique opportunity to participate in high-quality executive education," Bro added. "Strategies developed from each of the eight rigorous Kellogg programs I attended have been put into practice in our organization and have resulted in measurable, positive, impact. While our membership and contributions have grown, the Kidney Cancer Association has achieved a level of transparency in its operations, and efficiency in its fundraising and fiscal management, that would not otherwise have been easily obtained. Kellogg's commitment to the development of best practices in the nonprofit sector is unmatched by other educational institutions and should be seen as an essential component in the responsible management of organizations."

Mr. Bro, 58, is a kidney cancer survivor and former chairman of the board of directors of the Kidney Cancer Association. Prior to joining the organization as its president and chief executive officer, he worked for 35 years in the communications industry as an executive and consultant. He is married to Johanna, and they have two children of high school age, and reside in Winnetka, Illinois.
