Easthampton, MA (PRWEB) January 6, 2009

The Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley is pleased to announce its classes, sittings and retreats for the first half of 2009. Insight PV serves Western Massachusetts from its relaxed meditation hall at Eastworks in Easthampton, Massachusetts. The teachings of Buddha are applied to our busy western lives, as we learn to respond to life's experiences with compassion and ease. All classes and retreats are offered on a "suggested donation" basis. No one will be turned away from any event for lack of funds.

To serve those who are new to meditation, Peggy Gillespie will offer "Mindfulness Meditation & Awakening Joy for Beginners", a one-day retreat on Saturday, January 17. Adi Bemak will offer an "Introduction to Insight Meditation" class on Tuesdays from April 28-June 2. This class will support participants in experiencing inner stillness, so they can live in the present moment with ease.

Our founding teacher Arinna Weisman will join Jean Esther in leading our popular annual three-day weekend retreat in North Amherst, March 6-8. This retreat is non-residential (participants go home each night). Pre-register now at http://www.insightpv.org/insightpv_events.html.

Rebecca Bradshaw will teach a class on "Cultivating Wise & Compassionate Speech" on Tuesdays, March 31-April 21. Students will become familiar with the kinds of speech that heal and those that harm. The goal is to heighten mindfulness and compassion so we can write and speak in ways that support peace in our lives and in our community.

On Saturday, April 4, Adi Bemak will offer "Reflecting on Illness, Old Age, and Death: A Retreat for People of All Ages", a one-day retreat in which participants can explore difficult, universal experiences in a supportive environment. Students will be inspired to live fully, strengthening our capacity to embrace what comes on the journey of being human.

On Saturday, June 27, Chas DiCapua will offer a day-long retreat on Mt. Toby, with hiking, meditation and group discussion. Participants will be invited into the present moment by the sounds and smells of the natural world, reminding us of our place in the larger network of life.

A great way to get to know Insight PV is to attend one of our weekly open sittings, Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m.

Our Eastworks facility is wheelchair accessible. For the comfort of chemically sensitive individuals, no incense is used at our events. For more information about all our events, please visit our website at http://www.insightpv.org/.
