Flyers Asked for Alternatives to Pat-Down Searches Screeners Central, an unofficial web site for TSA screeners, is looking for ideas from "outside of the box" for alternatives to the controversial pat-down searches at airports. Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2004 -- With all of the attention in the media about pat-down searches of passengers being conducted at airport security checkpoints, and the growing number of complaints about the procedure, one concerned citizen thought it would be interesting to get some constructive feedback from air passengers themselves.
Mark Arsenault, who runs the unofficial screener web site Screeners Central (tsa-screeners.com), is soliciting suggestions from air travelers for an alternative to pat-down searches.
"TSA has said that the pat-downs are an interim procedure put in place until the explosives-sniffing technology can be deployed at airports," Arsenault said. "But some passengers feel that the pat-downs are too intrusive. So I pose this question: What alternative procedure would you suggest for airports at which sniffers are not yet available?"
Passengers and security screeners alike are welcome to post their suggestions on the web site's message board. To contribute a suggestion, go to http://tsa-screeners.com/start/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=273
The best suggestions will be compiled and submitted to the Transportation Security Administration. "Who knows," Mark said. "Perhaps someone has a great idea that the TSA hasn't considered yet. Sometimes the best ideas are those that come from thinking outside the box."
About Screeners Central: Screeners Central is the humorous (and at times irreverent) resource site for America's TSA Screeners. It is not affiliated with the Transportation Security Administration or any government entity. The web site was created in March, 2004, by Sacramento publisher and entrepreneur Mark Arsenault. The web site has thousands of visitors daily, and has logged more than 73,000 visits so far this month.
