Top Utah Youth Wrestlers Ranked

New ranking of the top 25 Utah wrestlers in 4 age groups: Midgets (8-9 yrs), Novice (10-11 yrs), Schoolboy (12-13 yrs) and Cadet 14 - 15 yrs). Ranks include 3 National Champions, and 9 All Americans.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) December 1, 2004 -- The final 2004 individual rankings for Midget, Novice, Schoolboy, and Cadet wrestlers in the State of Utah have been compiled. Results can be viewed at http://www.specializedwrestling.com/2004Rankings.html

Leading the rankings are 3 Utah wrestlers, Matt Brown, Carson Kuhn, and Jason Chamberlain, who each earned National Championship titles in 2004. Nine other Utahans earned "All American" honors by placing at the 2004 USA Wrestling National Championships. Wrestlers earn points toward rankings by competing at major wrestling tournaments in three different styles of wrestling: Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman. The major tournaments included in the ranking process are the USAW Utah State Championship, the USAW Western Regional Championships, the USAW National Championships, the Utah Summer Games, and the Utah State High School, and Jr. High State Championships.

Specialized Wrestling Club (http://www.specializedwrestling.com) based in Salt Lake City, easily toped the 2004 club rankings. In fact every 2004 national champion and kids All American from Utah trains with Specialized Wrestling.

According to Jedd Jones, Director of Specialized, the success of the club can be traced to two factors. First, Jones credits Head Coach Ivan Ivanov, a former National Team Member, and coach of a Bulgarian National Team, with teaching the techniques necessary for club members to compete effectively in 3 styles of wrestling. Next, Jones claims that success breeds success. He emphasizes the importance of training with highly skilled sparing partners as the way to hone the technical skills required to effectively compete. Says Jones, "There is no other place in the State, and possibly no other place in the Country where you will find 12 All Americans in one wrestling room. The level of competition that our kids face every day in practice is much higher than they see in any meet they attend, short of the National Championships. Going against superior competition day in and day out, pays off big at tournament time. Our wrestlers know that there is nothing they will see, that they have not seen before".

The 2005 Utah wrestling pre-season kicks off on Saturday, December 4, 2004 with an open tournament at Spanish Fork High School. For a complete schedule, visit http://www.specializedwrestling.com/Calendar.html
