Interlochen Arts Academy Taking Applications for 2009-10 Priority Application Date is February 1

Interlochen Arts Academy is currently accepting applications for students interested in attending for the 2009-10 academic year. Students who apply before February 1 will receive priority status but applications received after that date will still be considered.

Each year, approximately five hundred young artists from around the world learn, create and perform at the fine arts boarding high school in northern Michigan. The Academy offers six arts majors including creative writing, dance, motion picture arts, music, theatre and visual arts. Arts facilities (http://www.interlochen.org/academy/facilities_1/?WT.mc_id=PRWeb_AcadPrior_Jan09) on the campus match or exceed those found at leading collegiate arts programs and a steady stream of visiting artists provide instruction and advice to Interlochen's student artists. While the school is widely known for success in the arts, students are also challenged by comprehensive college-preparatory academics.

Since 1980, thirty-nine students have been named Presidential Scholars - a record unmatched by any other school in the United States, public or private. In 2008, Interlochen students represented nearly twenty percent of the finalists in the youngARTS program, the nationwide talent program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.

With preparation in arts and academics, more than ninety percent of Academy students are accepted by their first-choice school. The 200 students of the graduating class of 2008 were offered more than $25 million in financial aid and scholarships from colleges and universities. Interlochen students have also been seen and heard on national television and radio broadcasts including "From the Top."

A generous financial aid program brings an Interlochen education within reach for talented young artists from all backgrounds. Each year, Interlochen Arts Academy provides around $6 million in financial aid to students and approximately 70 percent of students receive aid.
