New York (PRWEB) January 16, 2009 -- New York Safety Net (www.nysafetynet.com), a website of information and resources for the citizens of New York, has launched a new Internet audio program that provides information to the public regarding aging and care of the elderly in New York. The program series, titled "Spotlight on Aging and the Elderly", will include interviews with community leaders and experts in the fields of aging and elder care. The programs will help family members learn how to better manage the aging process for loved ones, how to plan for long-term care, and how to ensure the compassionate treatment of loved ones in nursing homes. The programs will be short in length, typically under ten minutes long.

The first program features two interviews. Debbie Warburton, the Program Director for New York City's Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, discusses the post-holiday needs of family members in long-term facilities. Marge Abrams, an Elder Care Manager, covers the issues and needs of the elderly when an elder parent continues living at home. Listeners may find the program on the home page of the website for New York Safety Net, at http://www.nysafetynet.com.
