Statistics show that the average American currently has thousands of dollars of unsecured debt. Even more frightening is that most American's have no strategy in place for reversing their debt spiral.

(PRWEB) December 16, 2004

Everyone loves receiving Christmas presents. However, the ones who get the best presents every year are Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Each year more and more American's spiral into credit card debt in order to have what they consider to be a "Merry Christmas". The joy from these presents lasts about as long as most people's new year resolutions as the bills quickly pile up and reality settles in.

So what should you be asking for this Christmas season? Perhaps a new pair of scissors to cut up your unnecessary credit cards. Jeff Lewis, a consultant for Consumer First Credit (http://www.consumerfirstcredit.com, a debt consolidation company) explains:

"Consumers need to realize there are a wide array of options available to them, but, they also need to take the time to research and clearly understand what best fits their situation. Do some online research and understand the differences between credit repair, credit counseling, debt consolidation and debt negotiation."
