Waukesha native now residing in Greater Grand Rapids area, Tim Mainka, the songwriter, arranger, and musician known as Sonic Freedom™, has advanced from the Top 16 to the Top 8 in the Quarterfinal rounds at MakeAStar.com's worldwide songwriting contest. Contest champions are offered a non-exclusive licensing deal by MakeAStar Records and a position on the quarterly "Best of Make A Star" CD compilation. Tim Mainka - Sonic Freedom™ is now featured in Concert Hall 4, with his song, “Do You Miss Me”. The Quarterfinal competition on MakeAStar.com ends on December 21, 2004, 5pm EST.

Tim unleashes sonic freedom while writing and performing all music, instruments, vocals and lyrics. With natural gifted talents, Tim Mainka as Sonic Freedom™, creates memorable passionate positive rock and roll. He keeps a positive outlook despite life's hardships. The passion of Sonic Freedom™ music reflects Tim's gratitude for life, as he was saved, miraculously from dying at age two in a tragic accident.

Tim Mainka grew up in Les Paul's hometown, Waukesha, Wisconsin. With the excitement of musically active brothers, by age ten, he enthusiastically explored drums, bass, guitar, and songwriting naturally by himself with great confidence. His high school voted him most likely to become a rock star.

Throughout the years, as performer and songwriter, Tim has aligned himself with many diverse musical groups, including rock bands, tribute bands, jazz combos, jazz big bands, and wind symphonies. He earned his Music degree graduating cum laude (with honors) from Carroll College.

Tim is also a gifted teacher, of guitar, bass, drums, songwriting and music theory, inspiring countless students in private instruction and group classes, currently teaching in the greater Grand Rapids and Holland, MI area.

Billy Sheehan, Jim Roberts and Bass Player Magazine recognized Tim Mainka in a worldwide scholarship contest for the Bass Institute of Technology (BIT). Jim Roberts, the ex-editor of Bass Player Magazine, stated "Congratulations...the competition was tough." World renown bassist, Billy Sheehan, had this to say: "I enjoyed your playing very much... I'm sure your talents will take you far."
