Jetcareers.com "Operation: Care Pack 2004" Delivers Over 400 Pounds of Holiday Cheer to Soldiers in Kuwait and Iraq

Jetcareers.com collects nearly $1,300 in donations to spread holiday cheer with care packages for Army National Guard troops serving in the C-12 detachment of Aviation Task Force stationed in the Gulf.

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) December 20, 2004 -- Jetcareers.com collects nearly $1,300 in donations to spread holiday cheer with care packages for Army National Guard troops serving in the C-12 detachment of Aviation Task Force stationed in the Gulf.

"It started out last year as an idea from my wife to send one of website members a care package to help him get through the holidays", says Doug Taylor, an MD-88 pilot for a major U.S. airline, webmaster of Jetcareers.com and owner of TaylorDouglas, LLC.

"The group that we sponsored last year is enjoying the holiday season stateside, however we discovered another jetcareers.com member is serving in the gulf in support of the war in Iraq so we revived the "Operation Care Pack" program to send him and his unit some holiday treats. As a group, we believe strongly that supporting our military who are protecting our freedom takes a lot than a simple sticker on the bumper of a sport-utility vehicle."

Doug Taylor and his wife Kristie began by taking small donations from members, providing them an opportunity to be part in the project. Jetcareers.com "Operation: Care Pack 2004" collected donations from participants throughout the United States and even some foreign counties. "Jetcareers.com is a close-knit community of people with common aviation interests. Its very heartwarming to see members collaborate towards this project. Aviation is a fraternity of sorts and we try to look out for one another like brothers and sisters", says Doug.

They also credit much of the projects success to DHL Cargo. "DHL was once again able to offer us greatly reduced shipping rates and help with the logistics of shipping nearly 400 pounds of holiday treats to our soldiers in Iraq and Kuwait. Without the support of DHL, this project would have been much more difficult, if not impossible."

The couple hopes that their websites success with the project will invigorate other citizens to support the military based abroad for the holidays. "As long as our friends, family and neighbors are serving in the Gulf, they should know theres still a community eagerly awaiting their safe return."

Jetcareers.com was created in 1998 as a hobby and soon became a growing hub of airline industry professionals, airline pilots, student pilots and others interested in aviation.

Jetcareers.com generates almost 750,000 hits per day and is considered the worlds primary source for information regarding professional aviation.
