Israel Programs Fair Coming to the Triangle A variety of short-term and long-term programs will be showcased at the Israel Programs Fair, to be held Sunday, January 16, 2005 in a "one-stop shopping" event aimed at high school and college students, young adults and parents. (PRWEB) December 29, 2004 -- A trip to Israel on a short- or long-term program is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for teens and young adults to be inspired, challenged, and acquire enriching new skills and experiences. Participants leave Israel with a better understanding of their relationship to the past, present and future of the Jewish people, and the complexities and diversity that is the Jewish homeland today.
Students and young adults can learn about the variety of Israel programs at the Jewish Community Center's Israel Programs Fair on Sunday, January 16, 2005, from 2-4 pm. The Fair will be held at North Carolina Hillel, 210 W. Cameron Ave., Chapel Hill.
The Israel Programs Fair is a new and unique experience for the Triangle. Never before have this many options been shown in one place. Israel tours and programs for teens, students and young adults differ in their philosophy, focus, religiosity and length. The Israel Programs Fair is designed to provide detailed information from professionals and past participants, and help in the selection from the myriad of programs.
On hand will be past participants representing many of the different Israel experiences that are available. The programs are often heavily subsidized or even free to members of the Jewish community.
There is no charge for the fair. Door prizes and Israeli food will also be featured.
Some of the programs represented include: Young Judaea The Aliyah Center Maccabi Israel United Synagogue Youth (USY) National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) Alexander Muss High School BBYO Habonim Dror Pardes Birthright Israel Evans/Ochsman Israel Scholarship Fund
Parents of prospective participants are also encouraged to attend and pick up literature, watch videos, speak to program sponsors, and, most importantly, meet alumni of many of these programs.
The fair is organized by the Jewish Community Center, an agency of the Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation, with assistance from the Jewish Agency for Israel. The Israel Programs Fair organizer is Community Shaliach Tal Maoz. He can be reached at the JCC at (919) 489-5335, ext. 22 or tal@shalomdch.org.
