Artisan Precast Unveils Hurricane and Earthquake Walling Artisan Precast, one of the nations leading precast concrete fence manufacturers, unveils their line of hurricane and earthquake walling. Los Angeles -- During an earthquake or hurricane, the last thing you want to worry about is the structural integrity of your screening walls and fences. Artisan Precast has come up with a unique solution. Their precast concrete fences are created to withstand the harshest of conditions and conform to both earthquake and hurricane state specific codes and sections.
Precast concrete fences are concrete products made at a manufacturing plant where concrete is poured into forms, allowed to harden, and then shipped to their destination where they are put together at the job site using a post and pier method. This method entails pouring concrete posts every 5-6 feet, after which the precast concrete panels are slid into place between the posts. This allows each panel to act as a "stand alone" wall, giving each panel a degree of movement which can help absorb impact from an earthquake, helping to prevent cracks. Because the panels are not mortared to each other, if one panel does need to be repaired, it can easily be slid out and replaced, while still maintaining the structural integrity of the other panels.
Using precast concrete fences allows more flexibility, as well as a quick installation with virtually no maintenance. The concrete is integrally colored during the manufacturing stage, which means no painting or staining is ever required. It can also be erected in harsh conditions such as undulating topography, similar to that found in areas where earthquakes are prevalent. The precast concrete walls are made to conform to seismic category D, which means that they can withstand earthquakes from 7-8 on the Richter scale. They also can withstand wind forces of up to 150 miles per hour based on the size and steel-reinforcement of the piers.
