Niagara Falls, NY (PRWEB) January 12, 2005 -- Aquaseal USA Inc. has just introduced AQUA-STOP to its line of waterproofing products. Aqua-Stop is a cementitious 'do it yourself product that will allow the homeowner to fix a leaking basement from the inside without the need for costly construction work or excavating around the outside perimeter of the house. Incorporating European crystalline waterproofing technology, this product has been used commercially around the world on tunnels and underground structures for over 40 years. Now Aquaseal is introducing this product to the North American residential market for the first time.

A common problem with many new and older homes is damp or wet basements. A recent study of new home construction revealed that almost 40% of new homes built in the U.S. develop problems with leaking basements, leading to mold and mildew growth, and the resulting health and liability issues. Homeowners faced with this problem usually have two choices -- one is to have a contractor dig up around the outside of the house and re-waterproof the foundation which means landscaping, decks, patios, etc. have to be removed and then replaced. The second choice is equally invasive and expensive and involves a contractor digging up the perimeter of the interior basement and installing a weeping tile system. This does not stop the water entering the basement, but instead, gives it somewhere to drain to and in homes with a finished basement means that the floors and walls have to be refinished once the work is completed.

Now with the introduction of Aqua-Stop there is finally an economical and easy method that actually Stops water coming through the basement walls or floor. Aqua-Stop comes in powder form and is mixed with tap water and then applied to wet concrete basement walls or floor with the brush provided in the kit. The product is carried deep into the surface of the concrete where it spreads into the pores and then expands to seal and close off the wall, preventing any further water penetration. Aqua-Stop comes in two 25lb bags, is safe and easy for the homeowner to apply, and contains no fumes or toxic chemicals. Only one treatment is required and over time the product penetrates deeper and deeper into the concrete where it forms a barrier that will last 100 years. Aqua-Stop has been tested on commercial projects down to depths of 460 feet and as the average basement is only 12 feet deep, the hydrostatic pressure on residential buildings is well below the tested limits of this product.
