Marblehead, MA (PRWEB) February 16, 2009 -- The Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) is now accepting nominations for its second annual 2009 CDI Professional of the Year award (www.hcpro.com/acdis/contact_us.cfm?email_topic=award). All professionals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in the field of clinical documentation improvement are eligible.

The CDI Professional of the Year award and two awards for contributions to the field of CDI will be selected by a committee comprised of CDI professionals from around the country. The winner will receive one free registration to the 2009 ACDIS annual conference (http://www.hcpro.com/acdis/course_overview.cfm?website_access_item_id=5728&course_id=10037), which will be held May 14-15 in Las Vegas, NV. The winners will also be honored at a networking and awards luncheon held at the conference.

Last year ACDIS honored Randi Ferrare, RN, BSN, for her great work as director of health management services at Morton Plant Mease Healthcare in Clearwater, FL. Ferrare helped to turn around an existing program that was staffed by busy case managers and suffering from sub-optimal results. Spearheaded by Ferrare's efforts, Morton Plant Mease implemented a dedicated CDI program that yielded positive physician profiles and increased revenue by the third quarter of 2007.

Those wishing to nominate a colleague for contributions to the field of CDI can download (http://www.hcpro.com/acdis/contact_us.cfm?email_topic=award) a nomination form at www.cdiassocation.com.

The 2009 ACDIS annual conference will feature expert faculty who bring expertise that includes best practices to improve the performance of clinical documentation improvement programs, case studies, and optimal techniques for reviewing records and constructing physician queries.
