(PRWEB) January 18, 2005 -- PCPhoneline.com has unleashed the VTA1000 Skype Gateway with Dual Mode SIP Calling specially developed for the millions of users of Skypes proprietary free calling network giving them the ability to use Skype with a good cordless or regular phone as a cost effective alternative or supplement to their regular home phone service.

The VTA1000 is a next generation USB based analog telephone adapter (ATA) which has a built in SIP gateway function eliminating the need to use a softphone or dialer. The latter allows calls to be placed and received even with the computer screen powered off or when a computer is in "sleep" removing power consumption concerns of the past.

Skype users now also have the ability to receive calls from regular landline phones, access to advanced features such as voice mail answering services and seamlessly maintain contact with users of SIP networks such as Free World Dialup, SIPPhone, Stanaphone and Babble. Via the use of an optional VPC1000 port converter, the VTA1000 may be connected to the spare telephone extension of any PBX system providing Skype and SIP calling facilities to all users in an office directly from their desktop phones. Remote phone extensions may also be created addressing the needs of people who may often work from home but wish to remotely place and receive calls via their office's PBX as if they were in the office.

No additional router or hub equipment is required to use the VTA1000 Skype Gateway with dual mode SIP support making it extremely cost effective and ideal for business, home and travel applications. The VTA1000 also has built in computer telephone integration (CTI)hooks available allowing 3rd party developers to integrate it with external computer applications such as those required for call center services and Internet based public information booths. The product works with both dialup and broadband Internet connections and is compatible with the Skype network and with SIP networks including those based on the popular Asterisk PBX and SIP Express Router (SER).
