McGhee-Tyson Airports Wireless Digital Signage for Security Checkpoint Keeps Passengers Informed

(PRWEB) January 22, 2005 -- Homeland Security issues have long been a focal point for our nations airports. One of the most visible, and unavoidable, aspects of air travel is the Security Checkpoint. Knoxvilles McGhee-Tyson Airport now has a wireless digital signage system integrated into the passenger terminal's environment to make sure passengers are made aware of security procedures and other information -- not only for our safety, but to help the screening process go more quickly and efficiently!

The signage system, designed and installed by Multi-Media Solutions, Inc., features a large lcd panel mounted overhead, clearly visible to all passengers approaching the Security Checkpoint. While the screen continuously relays procedures and guidelines to help passengers comply with the requirements of the checkpoint, it can also display any other type of information, announcements or messaging that the Airport considers appropriate and necessary.

The key to this outwardly simple method of providing information to passengers is a wireless signage system- any information shown on the screen can be immediately updated, changed, and scheduled from a computer on a desk many long hallways away. The design team at Multi-Media Solutions (MMS) implemented a wireless system which allows the information to flow between these two points through the large window, across a section of paved area busy with planes rolling into their gates, and into the window of that far-off office! To showcase this technology and McGhee-Tyson Airports wireless digital signage system, MMS has placed a case study of the installation on one of their web sites at www.digitalsignage-usa.com/Portfolio/index.php

MMS has provided other Knoxville area organizations with audio visual systems integration recently. The Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporations new headquarters at One Vision Plaza on Gay Street contracted MMS to design and install their state-of-the-art Conference Room, digital signage in the bookstore area, television displays in the Café, and complete audio and P.A. system for the stage where live performances are held daily. Knoxville Chamber of Partnerships front window opening onto Market Square boasts a plasma screen for digital signage. Clayton Homes new training facility and one of their conference rooms has full A/V integration now, and Ameristeels new training room is up and running, and a main conference room is in progress.

Multi-Media Solutions is a 15 year-old Audio Visual System Integrator located in Alcoa, with an additional office Nashville.
