ComedyCentral.com and interFUEL Team to Create Appetite For Distraction" Game

Comedy Central® tapped Ventura, California design firm, interFUEL, to create a mind-boggling game to promote the new game show Distraction," premiering January 18th.

(PRWEB) January 28, 2005 -- Comedy Central tapped Ventura, California design firm, interFUEL, to create a new game to promote Distraction," the outrageous game show hosted by Jimmy Carr premiering January 18th.

interFUELs outstanding creative reputation, amazing turnaround time for online game development, and a devilish concept for the game were huge draws for Comedy Central. This turnaround far exceeds the industry standard of eight to ten weeks.

Comedy Central Producer Shaw Bowman and Digital Media Creative Director Paul Beddoe-Stephens worked with interFUEL to develop a game that would truly complement the on-air program.

Working with Beddoe-Stephens and Bowman, interFUEL created and developed a game that appears to be a simple comedy trivia quiz -- until you try to play it. Then the real fun begins. As in the program, Appetite For Distraction" assaults the player with distractions, nuisances, and annoyances that make the seemingly simple process of answering a question a real challenge. In addition, the player not only has to complete a trivia quiz under these conditions, but also must play absurd mini-games to proceed to the next round.

Shaw Bowman noted "interFUEL really succeeded in crafting a crash-course for our users in the masochistic hijinx of "Distraction." The game, like the show itself, is the perfect balance of obnoxious and hilarious -- making it totally addictive."

Paul Beddoe-Stephens added "Leave it to interFUEL to come up with quite possibly the most annoying game ever. I've never wanted to smack my monitor upside before, but these guys...they're good."

David Holifield, Creative Director of interFUEL explained We tried to think of the most annoying things about the average online experience -- and then we put as many of them as we could in the game. Pop-ups, Instant Messages from unknown parties, inscrutable system errors -- theyre all in there. We also got to add in a lot of elements from the show itself, including some video payoffs."

interFUEL has been designing games and sites since 1995 for entertainment clients including Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., Nick at Nite, KDDI Dion, TV Land, Riot Media, Patagonia, and Spike TV. Their proven track record of successful site launches includes the launch of the AmandaPlease.com site created for the Nickelodeon show, The Amanda Show." The AmandaPlease.com site generated a 60% increase in overall traffic for Nick.com within the first month of launch.
