70 Year Old Orange County Resident Runs 100th Marathon

After running marathons in all 50 states and on seven continents, Dr. John Strand of Orange County has selected the Pacific Shoreline Marathon to complete his 100th marathon. The other half of this running duo, wife Dorothy Strand, has run 35 marathons, and all eight previous Pacific Shoreline events.

(PRWEB) January 28, 2005 -- Dr. Strand began his running career at the age of 53. Now at age 70, he is ready to surpass his next running milestone, 100 marathons. The total distance covered in 100 marathons would travel across the country from Huntington Beach, CA to our nations capital in Washington, DC.

After having run in all 50 states, Dr. Strand finds it fitting to run number 100 on his home turf. This is the time to support the oldest marathon in Orange County. The Pacific Shoreline Marathon course has the lovely coastline and refreshing excursion into the park. It is a must for any real marathoner."

A special finish ceremony will be held for Dr. Strand as he crosses the finish line at the Pacific Shoreline Marathon on February 6th. Dr. Strand should cross the finish line between 5 and 5 1/2 hours after the start at 7:00AM.
