Thierfelder announced the creation of a new department of marketing and communications as part of his first year initiatives. The department will be vital in developing the Abbeys strategic marketing plan, brand, marketing communications, public relations, and will further unify the Colleges identity through all print and electronic media, including its web presence. This new structure will allow for a centralized point of communications and ensures consistency throughout all communications materials.
The department of marketing and communications will be headed by the also newly-created position of vice-president for marketing and communications. Thierfelder has appointed former colleague Cisco Adler to the post.
Adler had served as vice president of marketing for York Barbell Company in York, Pennsylvania along with Dr. Thierfelder. Together, he and Thierfelder not only created the vision and strategic plan to facilitate York Barbell Companys turn around, but were also vital to rejuvenating its brand as one of the most recognizable names in the industry. Adlers responsibilities included product development, packaging, merchandising systems development, and all marketing communications. He also successfully helped develop, trademark and patent new and innovative lines of products and merchandising systems, significantly increasing sales, and re-establishing the company as a major fitness supplier.
Ciscos vast experience and entrepreneurial spirit make him the perfect choice for this position," says Dr. Thierfelder. My previous experience with him at York Barbell Company gives me great confidence in his talents and abilities to make an immediate and positive impact here."
Prior to York Barbell, Adler was a partner and co-founder of The Adler Group, Inc., a successful brand strategy, identity, and marketing firm, with clients ranging from multi-billion dollar multinational corporations to consumer goods manufacturers and real estate development firms. He is a former member of Sports Edge Magazines editorial advisory board and was most recently nominated to Chain Store Age Magazines 40 under 40 Award for significant contribution to the retail industry. He is also the inventor/co-inventor of numerous U.S. and international patents.
I am honored at the opportunity presented by Dr. Thierfelder and the Belmont Abbey College community," Adler said. I look forward to being a part of the next chapter of the College as we continue to dedicate ourselves to excellence and virtue in all that we do."
A native of York, Pennsylvania, Adler has relocated to the Charlotte area with his wife, Kristy, and two young children Ethan, 3, and Isabella, 1.
