Winter Hair Care Advice from the Warren Scott Salon & Day Spa

What the color of the sky has to do with the color of your hair

(PRWEB) February 2, 2005 -- Experts say your hair should be lighter in the summer and darker in the winter. But did you ever stop to consider why? According to master hair colorist Scott Chmelar, owner of the Warren Scott Salon & Day Spa in North Raleigh, winter light is the reason for the difference. In the winter, the light in the atmosphere becomes much bluer. This blue light, which is filtered out in the summer, neutralizes our skin tone which is already paler than in summer. The end result is that we look washed out."

Chmelar and his staff of highly trained colorists advise people to choose warmer hair tones that frame their face and enhance their skin tone. Examples include cinnamon, nutmeg and walnut colored tones. By making small modifications in hair color with each visit to your salon, you can gradually modify your hair tones to give you the most complimentary effect for your skin tone.

Getting a professional luster will change the hues in your hair by adding or subtracting colors from the palette of your hair design," says Chmelar. In the Fall, you want to tone down or remove the pale blonde colors from your palette and add in the warmer, cinnamon-like colors. Conversely, in the Spring you want to pull out some of the red colors and add in the beige and blonde colors." The hair color you had in the summer is simply the wrong choice for the winter.

If youre still unsure which color is right for you in the winter, the Warren Scott Salon & Day Spa would be happy to provide you with a free consultation. For more information, call (919) 878-7979.
