Whats the Buzz About Military Stars?

MilitaryStars kicked off its first Career Expo of 2005 in the Washington, DC area with an all-time high level of candidate and employer excitement.

(PRWEB) February 3, 2005 -- The buzz in the military community has led to a rapidly increasing number of job seekers attending the MilitaryStars events as their preferred method of finding employment after the military. These candidates come to the Career Expos excited, not only for the possibility of finding a quality job, but for knowing that the companies that attend are equally excited about hiring veterans.

As part of MilitaryStars ongoing effort to ensure the best military-friendly" companies are recognized, a special ceremony was held at the DC event for employers who continue to use MilitaryStars as a prime resource to find eager, dedicated, trustworthy, and proven military candidates to fill their companies employment opportunities.

MilitaryStars presented three Gold Star" Employer Awards to representatives from Orion International, G.I. Jobs, and Ferguson Enterprises for their dedication and commitment to hiring veterans. Orion International CEO Bill Laughlin explained why his company will be attending all MilitaryStars events this year: Excellent format and excellent execution. It was great to see the number and quality of companies attending these conferences to support the hiring of these exceptional men and women from the military." Tim Flock of Ferguson Enterprises noted, We like prior military for their leadership capabilities, focus and drive. MilitaryStars has enabled us to identify the right type of prior military candidates we need to make our business thrive."

Flock also gave a specific example of the advantages of a military background: Our Sales Management Trainee position is ideal for prior military. It gives them the opportunity to run a large business and manage people, which is something we have found the men and women of the military to be very capable of in our business." In fact, Ferguson Enterprises hired Jeff Robinson, a current Sales Management Trainee and Navy veteran of 22 years, at a previous MilitaryStars Career Expo. Jeff came to the event merely hoping to gain interviewing experience, and ended up with job offers from Ferguson and two other companies. He advises other candidates to be well-prepared, well-groomed, and knowledgeable about their prospective employers - words to remember as his new employer, Ferguson Enterprises, will be returning to every MilitaryStars event this year looking for more exceptional candidates like him.

Following the Gold Star presentation, the Bronze Star" Employer Awards were presented to representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), T-Mobile, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Through their continued presence at the MilitaryStars Career Expos, these companies send the message to candidates that they have military recruiting programs in place, and recognize the singular corporate potential of veterans. Asked what it meant to receive the Bronze Star award, Lacey Holley, Military Talent Scout for T-Mobile, replied, Were really excited. T-Mobile is new at military recruiting, and the award is a great way to get our name out [to the military." Military candidates, she continued, possess excellent hiring attributes: Theyre usually highly motivated, driven, and structured."

Hal Fischer, Managing Partner for MilitaryStars and a 10 year Air Force veteran himself, added that these awards are a tribute to each companys interest in wanting to hiring military candidates. Now, with this additional recognition, military candidates can feel more confident in pursuing careers with these companies and spreading the word about them in the military community."
