Cinema City International Film Festival Launches Screenwriter Competition

Awards for the winners of best Feature Screenplays, TV Pilots and Shorts will be given February 22nd, 2009

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 13, 2009 -- The Cinema City International Film Festival launched the "CCIFF Screenwriter's Competition" in order to find and foster the next generation of the film world's most innovative and creative screenwriters. The Writer's competition for feature screenplays, TV pilots, and shorts as well as a Black Tie Gala and Awards ceremony will be presented on Sunday, February 22, 2009. Proceeds from the event will support Oregon National Guard Emergency Relief Fund.

Suzanne DeLaurentiis, a 30 year veteran of film production and co founder of the festival, operates on the premise that every great film needs a great story. The CCIFF is dedicated to supporting talented screenwriters by utilizing the resources of the Festival to foster the winning screenwriters through networking opportunities, and film industry access.

Named one of the top twenty five film festivals in the country by Movie Maker Magazine, The Cinema City International Film Festival provides audiences with abundant opportunities to discover today's most innovative screenwriters. The festival also hosts a fundraising gala with proceeds going to severely injured American Soldiers returning from Iraq (Reintegration Team) and underserved war veterans,

This year, the range of cinematic expression explores a culturally diverse variety of screenplays and issues. "The screenplays in this year's competition are a convergence of storytelling and art that truly illustrate the broad spectrum of what is possible in screenwriting and filmmaking," said Suzanne DeLaurentiis, co-producer of the Festival. "The creativity, urgency and passion of this year's competition validates an emerging group of creative screenwriters who are driven by the passion of the industry."

CCIFF will formally announce on February 18th, the line up of screenplays selected from a number of submissions.
