Dallas Convention Promises Unique Mardi Gras Experience

All-Con is a 3-day participation convention at the Sterling Hotel February 4-6 in Dallas, Texas. Mardi Gras weekend brings celebrities, workshops, discussion panels, costume competitions, shadowcasting, live music, performances, and a masquerade ball.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) February 3, 2005 -- Unlike the usual autograph signing celebrities locked down to a table repetitively scrawling their signature, All-Con has set their guests free to roam and interact with the attendees at-large. Some of the talent who will be attending are Gerald Home and Christine Hewett from the Star Wars classic trilogy of films, Bill Johnson of the horror genera best known for his role of Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Troy Denning a New York Times bestselling author (aka Richard Awlinson), Barry Diamond a stand up comedian who has worked on television and films (Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks), and Adam Hughes a comic book artist internationally recognized for his buxom beauties.

The daytime convention hours are filled with discussion panels and workshops hosted by local groups representing entertainment and culture. Panelist Ethan Nahte speaks on Robert E Howard, The Father of Sword & Sorcery", the Texas Okinawa Goju-Kai Karate Federation has interactive demonstrations including self-defense all three days, Burlesque on the Fringe introduces their troupe to new audiences, Tribal Feat entertain and educate with their synchronous dance demonstrations, and James Disco speaks about his project, The Lost Boys of the Sudan", promoting the New American Safe Haven. Additional panelists and artists will be participating all three days.

Friday night five Texas bands take their turns on the convention stage performing music from their own CDs. The original songs of Nooner, Foreign Film, Rahim Quazi, Spackle, and Frump will entertain and enlighten those people warming up for the Mardi Gras weekend.

Friday midnight brings the Rocky Horror Picture Show troupe Three More Doritos to the stage for a Shadowcasting Audience participation feature. Rocky Horror fans of all ages will get to do the Timewarp again with this seasoned group of Dallas performers.

Saturday afternoon the Dallas Fan Force hosts a national exclusive, Ms. Star Wars" competition. Costumes are optional in this winner-takes-all contest combining Star Wars knowledge, creativity with content, and spirit of fandom.

Barry Diamond sets up for a private comedy performance at 6:30pm. All-Con is Mr. Diamonds first Texas appearance on his 2005 comedy club tour.

Mardi Gras festivities Saturday night begin with a costume competition, held under the sanctioned rules of the International Costuming Guild. After the winners are announced, a masquerade ball will commence.

At midnight, Bridgette of Madison County hosts Dallas first Moulin Rouge! Audience participation event. Spectacular movie scenes inspire costumed performers and audience members to their feet as they act out this magnificent story of Truth, Beauty, and Love".

All three days will be filled with Live Action Role Playing (LARP) events, miniature gaming tournaments sponsored by WizKids Games, and give-aways and prizes along with the celebrities, workshops, discussion panels, dances, contests, and more; all under one roof.
