(PRWEB) February 5, 2005 -- Four weeks after the GoogleMania contest was announced by the leading Israeli daily newspaper Maariv, competition heats up, as competitors scramble for top positions. The GoogleMania contest is based on the famous "Nigitude ultramarine" SEO contest, which challenged competitors to appear first on Google's search results for this previously obscure term.

In the GoogleMania contest, the challenge is for the Hebrew search term "Latur Motor", which literally means "To search for an engine". This search term, which did not appear in Google's search results at all before this contest, appears at the time of this press release in over 181,000 pages, and the numbers are rapidly growing.

The competition is currently nearing its fourth week, and for the past two weeks it was led by http://www.4walls.co.il/, created by the Israeli marketing firm "SEO Israel" (http://www.seoisrael.co.il/ ).

The contest is scheduled to close on the 28th of February, 2005, when the winners will be announced at 12:00AM by representatives of Maariv's web portal NRG.co.il.
