2006 Great American Road Rally Offers Up to One Million Dollar Prize One of America's largest rally events. Cape Cod, MA to Las Vegas, NV with up to $1,000,000 awarded to the winner. (PRWEB) February 13, 2006 -- The organizers of the 2006 Great American Road Rally announced today that their event is a go!
The Rally is an event that will take teams of expert drivers from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to Las Vegas, Nevada - a distance of nearly three thousand miles - in only three days. All in the hopes of winning big and going home with a lot of cash.
This event however, is not a race it is a precision rally. Precision rallying is a fairly new sport in the United States that is gaining popularity at a very rapid pace. In a traditional race the driver of the vehicle simply wants to be the first person to cross a designated finish line with the lowest time. In a precision rally the team (vehicle driver and a navigator) is given a set of guidelines which they must follow. They are given a distance, an average overall speed and an exact time of arrival. A navigator must plot out the perfect route for the team to travel and ensure they arrive at their designated time. Arrive late or early and points are added. The team with the lowest score is declared the winner. As mentioned, this is not a race. The goal of a precision rally is arrive exactly on time.
"The idea of precision rallying sounds easy but it is in fact extremely difficult. This is an event that will truly determine the most skilled and efficient driving team in the United States," claims Bryan Wood, Chief Organizer.
The 2006 Great American Road Rally is open to any team that would like to participate but this isn't all fun and games. There is a lot of money on the line.
Wood explains, "The minimum prize will be five hundred thousand dollars, with a maximum prize of just over one million dollars. The prize will be based on the number of participants and we are very optimistic that we will sell out this event and the prize money will exceed the one million-dollar mark."
Although the event's possibility of a one million-dollar prize will lure many in, this surely might not be for everyone. The entry fee for the rally is set at ten thousand dollars per team. However, with a maximum number of participants set at 110 it really is anyone's race - or rally! The 2006 Great American Road Rally is scheduled to begin June 22, 2006 and finish in Las Vegas on June 24, 2006. For more information visit www.AmericanRoadRally.com.
