Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 18, 2005 -- Cascadia Con is pleased to announce Music Guests of Honor: Uffington Horse with the Legendary Celtic Performer Heather Alexander

The group Friends of Filk will sponsor Uffington Horse with Heather Alexander as Music Guests of Honor for the North American Science Fiction Convention at Cascadia Con, September 1-5, 2005 in Seattle Washington.

Heather and the band will bring their mix of filk, folk and Celtic music to Cascadia Con enriching an already stellar lineup of Author Guest of Honor Fred Saberhagen, Baen Books Executive Editor Toni Weisskopf, Artist Guest of Honor Liz Danforth, Ig Nobel Awards founder Marc Abrahams, and Anime Guest of Honor Hiroaki Inoue. Uffington Horse has been performing since 1999 in the Northwest. Their mix of Heathers original songs and traditional tunes put to a rock and roll beat bring to mind British bands Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span, but with a modern style that is all their own. Their sound has been described as "Afro-Celt Sound System with Grace Slick as lead singer."

In addition to the Guest of Honor concert we expect Heather to headline the strong musical program at Cascadia Con which includes night-time filk events and daytime filk panels as well as other Science Fiction and Fantasy related musical styles.

Cascadia Con is the 8th North American Science Fiction Convention (NASFiC) in 30 years. A NASFiC is only held when the Worldcon for that year is outside of North America. In 2005 the Worldcon will be in Scotland and Seattle will host the NASFiC. Cascadia Con will be host to a variety of professional writers, artists, scientists, teachers, futurists and musicians as well as Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Anime aficionados. Cascadia Con is a 100% volunteer run organization and a fully qualified 501c3 company.
