Over 50 Galleries Nationally and Counting Secured by Renowned California Metal Artist Jason Mernick California Metal Artist Jason Mernick Takes The Fine Art Industry By Storm Bringing Forth a New Interest in Metal Wall Hangings is Participating in The International New York Art Expo March 3-6 2005. (PRWEB) February 20, 2005 -- Artist Statement: Most of my work is contemporary and incorporates many elements from nature. Due to the nature of the equipment used in the creation of my art I am an "extreme artist". I use some of the same tools used in the building of offshore oil rigs and high rise buildings. Fire, sparks and noise are a huge part of the creation process. All of my work is unique (one of a kind) and created by hand. Most pieces can be used in interior, as well as exterior spaces.
I work primarily with stainless steel, copper and aluminum. Basically, I use torches to cut and color the metal. All of the bending is done by hand. I use fire the way other artists use paint. That is, I paint with heat. As far as I know, I am the only Torch Painter" in the world.
My studio is located in the rural suburbs of Los Angeles. Due to this environment, my art reflects many influences from nature. The designs evolve organically, and are revealed to me during the creative process.
My art is like improvisational jazz, in that you cant really predict the next note!"
