Marketing Maven Now Brings People to Market Using Job Loss Workshops

Wild Rose, WI (PRWEB) February 24, 2009 -- There was a time, not too long ago, when Terry Kohl, media specialist and marketing consultant in the automotive industry, (www.terrykohl.com) spent her time helping clients bring their products to market. Now, it's the client who needs the marketing help.

Ever since Kohl's book, Lost Your Job? Now What! came out two years ago, her business has taken a completely different and very interesting path.

"I had no idea what I was in for," Kohl explained. "When I wrote my book in 2007, the economy wasn't nearly as disastrous as it is now. I would get a few calls a week from people who had read my book, looking for advice and help in re-making themselves for a new job. At that time they were in the drivers seat, still employed but wanting to find more meaningful work. Now, with unemployment figures out of the ballpark, I am inundated with coaching requests for a 'yesterday' appointment."

Kohl also is the founder of SEED (Support, Engage, Empower, Deliver), a program to help those in her central Wisconsin community. SEED supports those who have lost their jobs, homes, self-confidence and dreams by engaging them in conversation and networking opportunities; empowers them with ideas, confidence, skills and possibilities, that then delivers a more positive person back into the community.

Kohl's coaching sessions are anywhere from an hour to an all-day workshop, with most of her clients working with her over the phone and via e-mail. Along with targeted questions directed at "what do you really want to do?" Kohl follows the exercises in the 12 days of power program in her book.

"It's a whole new deal out there, Kohl explains, "and there's a number of fresh skills and tools we now need to implement besides a resume. That's pretty old school these days and in many cases not even necessary."

Kohl's book is a blend of career development tools, workforce resources and unique motivational methods. Her 12-day program is effective for job seekers at all stages of professional development and could easily be used in other areas of people's lives. (www.LostYourJobNowWhat.com)

Everyone from former CEO's to those who were on the manufacturing line is contacting Kohl and she finds it interesting that just as many men seek her coaching services as women. "I thought women would be more of a majority," she said. "Typically, women reach out for help sooner and more often than men, but I am seeing a very balanced scale. Everyone is in panic mode."

Panic is something Kohl understands. Her book is based on past job loss experiences as well as tried and true methods for dispelling fears. "The most powerful tool in our toolbox," Kohl emphasizes, "is our mind. When we learn how using our minds can dramatically change our lives, there is no end to what we can create."

And as the subtitle of her book has demonstrated to many of her clients these days, "The possibilities are endless."
