Amy Bloom is Going ABROAD Amy Bloom is the latest literary giant to join the guest lists of writers for the Gala opening of ABROAD at Chateau Marouatte in France. (PRWEB) February 28, 2005 -- From June 11-25, ABROAD will be offering a series of stimulating lectures and readings by Dorothy Allison, Amy Bloom, Margaret Drabble, Jacquelyne Mitchard and others. Plus a special One Act Play "The Female Wits", performed by Fidelis Morgan, Celia Imrie--from the movie "Calendar Girls", Michele Wade and Hermione Gulliford. The Female Wits is a whirlwind theatrical performance, which focuses on the lives and plays of numerous celebrated female playwrights of the late seventeenth century -- Aphra Behn, Delarivier Manley and Susanna Centlivre -- performed by four illustrious English actresses. The Female Wits has played at the Royal National Theatre.
The events will take place at Chateau Maouatte, a stunning 14th Century fortified castle in the Dordogne. This luxury chateau is situated on 240 acres of magical charm. The home is currently owned by the musical producer Miles Copeland. This enchanting setting has been the inspiration for music creations. Some recent guest to the Chateau are: Cher, Carole King, Stewart Copeland--of the Police, Brian Adams and Jeff Beck.
During the day we offer intensive writing classes with our guest authors. The writers' workshops will be from 8:30 to 12:00 daily.
