Dan White Joins RTKL as Vice President

Daniel C. White, AIA, has joined RTKL Associates Inc., a leading international architectural design firm, as vice president in the firm’s health practice group. He is based in RTKL’s Chicago office.

“Throughout his 20 year career, Dan White has been involved in advancing state-of-the-art hospital design,” said Brad T. Barker, AIA, senior vice president in charge of the firm’s health practice, which is based in Dallas. “He has worked with numerous prestigious healthcare organizations throughout his career and is known for his innovative planning and design skills. We are pleased to welcome him to the RTKL team.”

White has been involved in numerous notable projects, including the redevelopment of Clinica Santa Maria, the flagship hospital of BanMedica Healthcare System, in Santiago, Chile; a master plan and its implementation for Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Ill.; the planning and design of an Imaging Center for the University of Illinois at Chicago, housing the world’s most powerful MRI; the planning and design of the nation’s first patient-centered-care emergency department at Northside Hospital in Atlanta; the first specifically designed new eICUs in the Chicago metropolitan area for Advocate HealthCare at South Suburban Hospital in Hazelcrest, Ill., and Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Ill.; and master planning and design of numerous projects for Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Prior to joining RTKL, White served as a principal at the Chicago office of Phillips Swager Associates, a national architectural, engineering and planning firm and was a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Other previous positions include serving as an associate principal for Perkins & Will and as a vice president for NBBJ.

A 1982 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, White received his bachelor’s degree in architecture. He is a registered architect in Illinois and Wisconsin and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Academy of Architecture for Health and the International Markets and Practice, the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), Union of International Architects, the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and the Chicago Healthcare Executives Forum.

White is also a member of AIA, Chicago, where he serves on the Healthcare Knowledge Community leadership team. He served on the Facilities Permit Review Task Force for the IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health), and was previously the chairman of the national AIA’s International PIA (Professional Interest Area).
