KC Grupp Congratulates Two-Time Winter Olympics Champion Skier Andrus Veerpalu on His Second World Championship Win

Estonian skier Andrus Veerpalu, a two-time Winter Olympics gold medal winner and one-time world champion in Nordic skiing, won the 15 kilometre classical style race at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec on Friday, 20 February, becoming the Nordic skiing world champion for a second time.

Veerpalu won the 15 kilometre classical style race at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec on Friday, 20 February.

Czech Republic's Lucas Bauer took silver in the event, losing by 6.3 seconds, and Finland's Matti Heikkinen became third, 16.4 seconds behind.

Another Estonian skier, Jaak Mae, finished in fifth place.

Veerpalu won his first world championship gold in the 30 kilometre classical style race in 2001.
