Is There Enough Joss Whedon To Go Around

Joss Whedon is so busy as a writer/director/producer one wonders if there's enough of him to go around. Some say he's spread out too far. Others say he's not spread out far enough. His creations, on the other had, offer plenty to share with everyone. The Whedonverse Multimedia Project has a plan to bring Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly to more people by donating DVDs of these critically acclaimed TV shows to public libraries.

(PRWEB) March 9, 2005 -- Joss Whedon has a lot on his plate. Has he spread himself too thin? Organizers of the Whedonverse Multimedia Project don't think so. In fact, their goal is to spread his creations Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly even further by donating DVDs of the shows to public libraries.

The idea for the Project was inspired by the efforts of SaveFarscape.com and was first introduced to Whedon fans in August 2004. The Project truly came into its own in January 2005 when it established Whedonverse.org. Now off to a modest start, the Project hopes to steadily build from its successes.

So far, the Project has donated a total of 40 DVD sets among four different libraries. In addition, a donation of at least another 26 DVD sets will be given to two more libraries in the next couple of weeks. Also, fans donating directly to libraries on their own have added 23 books and 27 DVD sets to 7 libraries and one charity.

The most common response from libraries about the Project is that the DVDs offered for donation are very popular among their patrons. Some libraries don't possess enough copies to meet demand. One library on our waiting list, for example, reported a 2-3 month wait to check out Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs.

The libraries currently on the Project's waiting list shouldn't have to wait much longer:

• Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library - Tennessee

• Delton District Library - Michigan

• Round Lake Area Library - Illinois

• Playa Vista Branch Library, Los Angeles Public Library - California

• Horicon Public Library - Wisconsin

Here's how you can help:

• Donate to the Multimedia Project so it can send DVDs to libraries that request them.

• Make an individual contribution to your local library in the form of DVDs or books.

• Make a request for these items at your local public library.
