The 2005 African American Book Club Summit at Sea Now Accepting Reservations The Sixth Annual African American Book Club Summit (AABCS) will take place October 16 --23, 2005, and We're Going Hollywood" (PRWEB) March 9, 2005 -- Pack your coolest shades along with your favorite book, because this year the African American Book Club Summit at Sea is Going Hollywood! For the first time ever, the AABCS will depart from the west coast, bringing this literary adventure to a new group of book lovers. On Sunday, October 16, 2005, the AABCS will set sail from Long Beach, CA on the beautiful Carnival Pride for the exotic ports of Cabo San Lucas; Puerto Vallarta; and Mazatlan.
New York Times Best-Selling Author Eric Jerome Dickey headlines this years event. Other featured authors include best-selling authors: Bernice McFadden, Travis Hunter; Mary Monroe; Dr. Ian Smith, Nina Foxx; Victoria Christopher-Murray; Darrious Hilmon and ReShonda Tate-Billingsley.
The AABCS is also proud to introduce Up and Coming" Authors: Vincent Alexandria; LaTonya Williams; Shelly Foster; Stormy Steele; Kendra Norman-Bellamy and Kathy Mitchell-Thomas. In addition, a host of new and exciting authors will debut at the famous and legendary Author Showcase.
This year the AABCS will hold its second annual Short Story Contest. Last years contest winner was up and coming" BET Books author Kendra Norman-Bellamy. This year the contest will be open to all registered participants of the Cruise (with the exception of the featured authors). The winners will be announced during the cruise.
Founded in 2000, the AABCS has received national recognition as being one of the countrys most unique literary events. It has been featured in Essence Magazine; Ebony Magazine; Black Issues Book Review and Book Magazine; and soon will be featured in Upscale Magazine. It is an excellent opportunity for book clubs and avid readers to gather, discuss books, exchange ideas, develop strategies, and meet some of the country's finest authors.
Readers get the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite authors as well as meet new up and coming authors during workshops, panel discussions and private parties. Aspiring writers will also have an opportunity to discuss and obtain information on self-publishing, marketing and writing fiction.
