Mesothelioma Cancer Symptoms Symptoms of pleural mesothelioma (PRWEB) March 15, 2005 ( http://www.mesothelium.org/ ) Symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include a persistent cough, a hoarse or husky voice, sweating and fevers, difficulty swallowing and losing more than 10% of your weight when not dieting. Shortness of breath and pain in the chest due to an accumulation of fluid in the pleura are often symptoms of pleural mesothelioma. On the other hand, some patients show no symptoms at all. The onset of pleural mesothelioma is usually very slow, the most common presenting symptom is persistent pain localized in the chest. Peritoneal mesothelioma symptoms are pain and swelling in the abdomen, poor appetite, weight loss or constipation. Other symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma may include fever, blood abnormalities and anaemia. Symptoms of pericardial mesothelioma include chest pain, caught, dyspnoea and palpitations. If the cancer has spread beyond the mesothelium to other parts of the body, symptoms may include pain, trouble swallowing, or swelling of the neck or face. These symptoms are all more likely to be caused by some other illness, rather than by mesothelioma. But if you have these symptoms, see your doctor. This is particularly important if you have been exposed to asbestos in the past. http://www.mesothelium.org/ ###
