Singer-Songwriter Mark Sinnis Spins a Southern Tale

The 2nd solo release by gothic-country crooner Mark Sinnis set to hit stores on Tuesday, March 3.

Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) March 4, 2009 -- "A Southern Tale" is Mark Sinnis' follow-up offering to his highly acclaimed solo debut, Into an Unhidden Future. The overall sound might best be described as bittersweet Americana, steeped in whiskey and heartache. Sinnis' desolate tales of loneliness, love and mortality -- while painted on a dark canvas -- never fail to be achingly beautiful. He effortlessly incorporates into a traditional country sound the gothic elements for which his work is known, particularly in the hauntingly stark "It's the End, But There's No Heaven." His lyrics are simple and accessible, yet seasoned with a surprising dose of existentialism and set to a dreamy acoustic backdrop of piano, cello, lap steel and violin.

Album highlights include the title song, which pays a melancholy homage to love and Elvis Presley's Graceland, as well as two classic cover tracks -- "I Still Miss Someone" by Johnny Cash and Blondie's "Follow Me" -- which the crooning baritone manages to make entirely his own. Sinnis also includes an unexpected Christmas track and an almost ethereal love song, inspired by the 2nd movement of Beethoven's Sonata Pathétique. There's something on the album for everyone.

Some may recognize Sinnis as the singer/songwriter for the New York "cemetery & western" rock band, Ninth House, which he has fronted for over 10 years. Ninth House plans to release its fourth full-length CD later in 2009. Mark branched out on his own with his first acoustic solo release, "Into an Unhidden Future," in January 2008.

"A Southern Tale" will hit stores on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 and New Yorkers can attend its release celebration at The Living Room, NYC on Sunday, March 8. Joining Sinnis on stage will be Ninth House keyboardist Matt Dundas, Susan Mitchell on cello and violin, Lenny Molotov playing lap steel, Annette Kudrack on accordion and Jade Mandrake singing duet vocals. The first 50 attendees will be offered a free copy of "A Southern Tale."
