Consumer Alert: Hoodia Gordonii Weight Loss Pills Scam Exposed by Independent Investigation An independent investigation by a leading health news network is exposing one of the largest Hoodia Gordonii supplement scams operating today. (PRWEB) March 31, 2005 -- Truth Publishing, the creator and operator of the News Target Network, is reporting a counterfeit weight loss pills scam affecting unsuspecting consumers and the Hoodia industry in a new report posted online now at http://www.newstarget.com/006016.html.
The scam involves Nevada corporation Pure Hoodia and its selling of counterfeit Hoodia Gordonii appetite suppressant pills to consumers looking for a natural weight loss supplement. Three independent laboratory examinations of the products sold by Pure Hoodia Inc., commissioned by Truth Publishing, indicate they did not contain hoodia. Hoodia Gordonii is a plant from South Africa and is traditionally sold as a powder in capsulated form as a natural appetite suppressant.
Tested capsules sold by Pure Hoodia Inc. not only failed for containing any significant concentrations of the product, but were also discovered to have total dosage amounts weighing much less than what was printed on the supplement's packaging. Pure Hoodia Inc. operates several companies and brands of hoodia including the Hoodonii and Slimtron product lines, which are advertised and promoted as separate companies but are actually owned and controlled by the same group, investigators at Truth Publishing also learned.
"Here at Truth Publishing, it is our mission to investigate the truth about supplements, prescription drugs and food products, and then to report our findings to our readers," said Mike Adams, chief investigator and author of the online report. This investigation is just one of many we are currently pursuing involving scams and rackets in the health products industry, including prescription drug scams and drug marketing cons perpetrated by pharmaceutical giants."
Adams also reiterates that Truth Publishing and New Target Network are not compensated by any private companies in any way. "No person or company has paid us to create this report. We receive no financial benefit whatsoever from the sale of any products mentioned on our website or in our books," he said. "We are publishing this report to preserve the integrity of the Hoodia Gordonii industry and to protect consumers."
