Art Imitates "Reality" in New Faye Dunaway Film The new Faye Dunaway film Ghosts Never Sleep, her first to be released since the premiere The Starlet, shares a striking similarity of theme to the reality show. The film premieres in Florida at the 5th annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival. Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) March 30, 2005 -- Art imitates life imitating art in the new Faye Dunaway feature Ghosts Never Sleep also starring Tony Goldwyn and Sean Young, which makes its east coast bow at Floridas 5th Annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival. All three stars have been invited to attend the four-day festival, which runs April 21-24, 2005. The theme of an actress willing to go to any lengths for success is carried out to its desperate and inevitable conclusion in this psychodrama from first-time director Steve Freedman.
Tragedy and dark humor are seamlessly woven together in this psychological tale of a writer (Goldwyn) stricken by memories of a haunting past known only to him and his unforgiving mother (Dunaway). The writers latest work of fiction, a screenplay depicting graphic childhood abuse, arouses suspicion and concern in his wife (Young). But it fuels a single-minded desire in Melissa, a desperate actress turned producer (newcomer Shea Alexander) whos willing to suffer any indignity to get the film made with her playing the female lead. Ghosts Never Sleep is the first feature film appearance by Dunaway since taking on duties in the WB hit series The Starlet.
I think that anyone whos risen to the level of acceptance that Faye enjoys, naturally wants to nurture up-and-comers," offers director Steve Freedman. And I like to think our film helped put that issue front and center for her when the opportunity of The Starlet came up. Shes terrific in Ghosts Never Sleep. She really liked the script and it shows in her performance. She clearly knows what she wants and how to get it."
Dunaways past film credits include Chinatown, Bonnie and Clyde and Network, the latter for which she took home the Best Actress Oscar®.
A More East to Go Films production, Ghosts Never Sleep is being released internationally by Slamdance Media Group through Harmony Gold. A distributor has not yet been chosen for the North American release.
