Available from April 1st, Beamax introduces the High Contrast screen fabric. The new High Contrast fabric increases the perceived deepness of the black projected on the screen. Additionally, the images are more easily seen in high ambient light conditions (daytime viewing and non-darkened rooms), because the darker parts of the projected images are more visible. The High Contrast fabric is currently available in the M, M-silver, A and A-Velvet screen series.

The new High Contrast fabric increases the perceived deepness of the black projected on the screen. Additionally, the images are more easily seen in high ambient light conditions (daytime viewing and non-darkened rooms), because the darker parts of the projected images are more visible.

The High Contrast fabric is currently available in the M, M-silver, A and A-Velvet screen series.

How does the screen fabric actually improve the projected image?

Projectors these days have enough light output to create a very bright image. However, the quality of a movie is often determined by the differences in light and dark areas, in other words contrast. On a matte-white screen, the projector only determines the contrast you can see. With a high-contrast fabric, the grey fabric strengthens the projected black, because the human eye perceives the projected blacks as darker, because they are projected onto a grey surface.

In high ambient-light conditions, colours can appear to be washed out, which means it is very difficult to see an image at all. With the High-Contrast screen fabric, the colours look darker, which means it is easier to see the projected image. This means that movies look better during daytime viewing.

When would I use the High Contrast fabric and when would I use the regular matte white fabric?

For mid to high-end projectors and situations where the room can be darkened completely, we recommend using regular matte white screen fabric.

If you use an entry level projector, which does not have a high contrast level, the image you see can be improved when using a high contrast fabric.

When you want to enjoy you movies during daytime, the projected image will also look better when you use a high contrast fabric.

In which screens can I get the High Contrast fabric?

The High Contrast fabric is available in the M- and M-silver electrical screens and the A- and A-Velvet series fixed frame screens. Prices range from 285 (incl. VAT) for a 6ft wide A-series frame screen to 939 (incl. VAT) for a 10ft wide A-Velvet frame screen.
