American Gem Will Produce the Winning Short Screenplay - Call For Entries Though there may be an abundance of film festivals and contests where filmmakers and writers hope to attract attention to their work, there are still more players than there are positions in the game, making exposure to ones work quite an undertaking. Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) April 6, 2005 -- Though there may be an abundance of film festivals and contests where filmmakers and writers hope to attract attention to their work, there are still more players than there are positions in the game, making exposure to ones work quite an undertaking. Thats why exposure has been made one of the main themes of The American Gem Short Script Competition, by its producers at FilmMakers.com and screenwriting/filmmaking software giant, Write Brothers.
We at Write Brothers are extremely happy to be partnered with American Gem in their quest to find the American Gem Short Script." --Chris Huntley, Vice President-Write Brothers
Now in its fourth year, The American Gem has become a semi-annual affair that invites people from anywhere in the world to submit their scripts ranging from a minimum of 5 pages up to a maximum of 45, requiring that at least one main character, male or female, is American. It must also be possible to produce the winning script on a low-budget.
American Gem guarantees the production of the first place winners script, while the next five finalists still get 5 minutes to pitch their scripts to a producer, agent or studio executive.
With the sponsorship of Acton/Cut Filmmaking Seminars, FilmMakers magazine and Scr(i)pt magazine, American Gem offers practical and helpful prizes right up to the tenth position.
...Many contests offer a large first place prize, then nothing after that. There are some that dont even offer honorable mentions or semi-finalist levels. These things are important as boosts to the soul when one is slugging it out through another 10-page day." --Marc Calderwood
The deadline for all submissions is May 15, 2005.
