Torrance, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2009 Torrance, CA -- HealthCare Partners Medical Group will host an afternoon of learning, health and pap screenings, food, and entertainment at the Women's Wellness Fair, on Saturday, March 21. The fair will focus on raising awareness about the HPV virus and cervical cancer, particularly among African-American and Hispanic women, who have the highest rates of diagnoses in the country. "We want to make women aware of the link between the HPV virus and cervical cancer," said Juana Esparza, an administrator at HealthCare Partners. "Very often, there are no symptoms, so early detection through testing may help catch a potential problem before the disease is too advanced." Attendees will also be able to learn about opportunities to participate in HPV clinical trials. The first 100 participants will be offered a free, confidential pap test. Mammograms, body mass index (BMI), glucose, and height and weight screenings will also be offered to everyone. Prizes and massages will be available for all, as well as tips on how to live a more healthful life. The Women's Wellness Fair will take place from 9 am to 2 pm at the HealthCare Partners Los Angeles medical office, at 1025 W. Olympic Blvd. Admission and health and pap screeningsare free.
