"Trash to Treasure 2009 is highly anticipated by our students. Last year our volunteers gave more than 800 hours of their time to plan and staff this event," said Karen Blaney, Staff Advisor, CEC. "The assistance of Door to Door Storage is greatly appreciated as we are able to use the storage containers to sort and protect the items we collect." The CEC provides an opportunity for students to promote environmental stewardship and implement numerous projects that will have a positive impact on the campus environment at UT Austin. The CEC is the main organizer of the Trash to Treasure 2009 program. "Door to Door Storage is very pleased to once again participate in the Trash to Treasure 2009 program and partner with students at The University of Texas at Austin for a third year running," said Annette Jacobs, president and CEO, Door to Door Storage. "We feel that our efforts to save tons of waste going to the landfill and to help raise money for the CEC are an important part of giving back to the communities we serve." More than 100 volunteers are needed for the 2009 Trash to Treasure program. For every shift worked, a volunteer helps raise $50 for the environment and prevents 75 pounds of stuff from entering the landfill.
