WHY:        In February 1998, Starbucks and JDC formed Urban Coffee Opportunities (UCO), a 50/50 joint venture to develop Starbucks stores in under-served communities throughout the United States. This innovative endeavor combines the retail strength of Starbucks with JDC’s knowledge of urban areas in key metropolitan cities. The joint venture stores, including the new State Road 7 location, are committed to hiring locally and working with area non-profit organizations to develop long-term relationships that will benefit the community.
