The NYC Underground Comedy Festival 2005

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 15, 2005 -- The largest comedy festival in New York will take place on Oct. 3-9, 2005. In its 3rd year, The NYC Underground Comedy Festival will feature over 100 comedy-related events from stand-up showcases to comedy writing workshops in 60 locations across all five boroughs. Due to its growing popularity, this years festival will expand into New Jersey with shows at top venues.

We draw comedians from across the nation and give them a great opportunity to be seen and heard by peers and industry. There is something for everyone who attends one of the shows," says George Sarris, the festivals executive producer.

Two underlying themes in the NYCUCF are philanthropy and the belief that laugher should be brought to the people. Aside from the major comedy clubs, people can see festival shows at their local libraries, hospitals, and homeless shelters. NYCUCF has already raised $20,000 for Operation: UpLink, an organization helping U.S. troops connect with their families.

In comparison to 2003 and 2004, this years festival will be adding the Upright Citizens Brigade, other improve and sketch groups, and a new film division featuring todays funniest shorts.
