Digital Photos Disappearing In The Blink Of An Eye With the growing trend of digital photography comes the possibility of losing those precious memories, with a few tips and tricks this can easily be prevented. Keyport, NJ (PRWEB) April 16, 2005 -- With the tremendous growth of digital photograph comes many opportunities for losing all those precious photographs. Each year consumers take an estimated 100 million digital photographs, but yet only 20-25% of these photos are ever printed. This is an extremely dangerous trend that can have disastrous effects on our future.
Here is a list of a few ways that people seem to be losing their digital photos: -A CD/DVD the photos had been stored on is damaged and the files cannot be retrieved. -Too many photos are being stored on computers and hard drives crash. -Digital photos uploaded to online storage sites disappear when their obligation to purchase photos is not met.
Jill Caren, owner of Expressions Photo Design, sees firsthand the damage caused by digital photography and works at educating consumers on the best way to store and save their photos to ensure their longevity. Here she offers some tips on keeping your digital photos safe: -Download your photos to your computer and rename the file so that you can easily find the pictures when you need them. For example, if you have just downloaded Easter pictures you may name the file C:/mypictures/2005/Easter. It is recommended that you download photos before your card is full to avoid a card error. -Choose your favorite photos from this file and have them printed by either a professional printer or online service. Although todays home printers are improving, studies show that professional prints will last the longest. -Once your photos have been stored and printed then save them to a CD/DVD. Once this is done then it is very important to delete these photos from your computer. Too many photos on a computer can cause it to crash which would then result in all of your photos being lost.
These few simple steps will safeguard your photos and ensure that they will be around for future generations to enjoy. Printing your photographs is so important and cannot be stressed enough to consumers. Think back to 8-track tapes, Super-8 Film and VCRs and you can see what may happen to CD/DVDs. If this becomes obsolete then it will be difficult to obtain those photographs that have been entrusted to a CD or DVD." states Caren. Printing is the only true method of safekeeping your memories!"
