Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 18, 2005 -- (Booth SL 4045) - Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film, today announced that Volume II of Continuum Complete for Discreet Sparks will premiere at NAB 2005. This comprehensive suite of native filters extends the capabilities of Discreet Inferno®, Flame®, Flint®, Fire®, and Smoke® systems. This IRIX-based addition to the Continuum product line is based on Discreets Sparks architecture. Sparks is an advanced Application Programming Interface (API) for developing custom plug-ins.

Continuums intuitive filters expand the capabilities of Discreets world-renowned visual effects solutions with OpenGL acceleration and powerful integration features. Improvements to the initial release of Volume I will also be demonstrated. Improvements to the initial release include support for batch mode, which allows the Sparks to be used in process tree composites. Host support is extended to include both Interactive mode and Non-Interactive mode support.

"This new release adds powerful capabilities to Discreets high-end compositing feature set," said Boris FX founder and president Boris Yamnitsky. "The Continuum filters include unique integration features such as built-in motion tracking, customizable presets and the PixelChooser to ease the creation of track mattes, pixel-based masks and garbage masks."

Continuum Complete is available in two volumes, which may be purchased separately. Volume I includes more than 70 filters in four categories, Colors and Blurs, Effects, Lights and Wipe Transitions. Among the highlights are sophisticated glows and OpenGL-based generators that simulate real-life lighting such as lens flares, glints and glares. Other cutting-edge filters include DeNoise, DeInterlace, and Witness Protection. Most filters include separate front, back and matte inputs to streamline effects creation.

Volume II will be available in Q3 2005 and will include an additional 80 filters in four categories, Distortion and Perspective, Generators, Keys and Mattes and Time. Highlights include auto-animating procedural generators that create realistic caustics, clouds, smoke, rain, textures, and stars. Temporal effects feature state-of-the-art optical flow technology to smoothly retime clips. Sophisticated image processing filters include raster and vector image displacement maps. Geometric primitive shapes such as a cube, sphere, or cylinder can be manipulated in 3D space.

A version for the Linux operating system will be introduced later this year. This version will also add support for Burn, Discreet's Linux-based network processing solution that can render images in the background using low-cost PC workstations.

Continuum Complete for Sparks and other Boris solutions will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasting Convention (NAB) 2005 in booth SL4045 in the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 18-21, 2005. Boris solutions will also be shown in the Avid Developer Community booth SL1210A.
