(PRWEB) April 20, 2005 -- Started in June of 2004, SDMusicMatters Magazine began as a free, monthly, four color, glossy publication that covered music, art and culture exclusively in San Diego. As of April 1, 2005, SDMusicMatters changed its name to Music Matters and expanded editorial to include all of Southern California.
The decision to expand came in response to many inquiries from bands in Los Angeles and Orange County who found out about the magazine and were interested in participating. Theres a wealth of indie music in Southern California that needs this kind of exposure. By combining articles about up and coming acts with features on high profile bands and artists, Music Matters hopes to increase the recognition of indie artists and simultaneously offer fans intimate interviews with the bands theyve already come to know and love.
With just ten issues printed to date, the magazine has already interviewed such high profile national acts as The Beastie Boys, Jimmy Eat World and The Reverend Horton Heat as well as hot up and coming acts like Pinback, Louis XIV and Slightly Stoopid.
This full color, glossy magazine is in a class all of its own. No other magazine of this type matches MusicMatters in professional quality and content. With edgy photos by counterculture photographer Greg Passmore, and in depth exploration of emerging bands, artists, fashion designers and other cultural phenomena, Music Matters offers an alternative view to the stereotypical SoCal music magazine.
"Music Matters is great, its an awesome outlet for bands as well as local scenes to tell the public whats going on outside of the MTV world and give them a glimpse of real music and real musicians." - Peter Amirato, Launchpad Music Group, San Diego, CA
Music Matters is what the entertainment and music business in Southern California needs more than ever, they are the touchy feely that the public needs to find new music and cool entertainment items." - Ian Faith CEO, Shadow Dancers DVD & GCG, Santa Monica, CA
The magazines goal is to expose readers to talented musicians and artists from the hip, alternative underground as well as keep them informed about the bands that have risen from indie status and received the attention they deserve.
